DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2330Z May 14, 2025

SMOKE:
Southeastern Manitoba/Ontario/Upper Midwest...
Large wildfires in Manitoba and Ontario along with contribution from
wildfires in the Upper Midwest produced large amounts of light density
smoke that extended across eastern Canada, beginning in Manitoba and
extending through Ontario. Heavy cloud cover obscured further analysis
in this region.

AEROSOL/SMOKE:
Mexico/Pacific Ocean/Gulf of America...
An area of light density smoke and aerosols attributed to widespread
seasonal fire activity, volcanic emissions, and industrial sources
throughout Western, Southern, and Central Mexico was observed today along
both coasts of Mexico into the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of America.

DUST:
Southern United States...
A significant area of blowing dust, observed from earlier analysis
originating from New Mexico, progressed eastward reaching across the
Gulf States to Alabama.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
